Retromobil Gala Kraków
Retromobil Gala Kraków organized by Automobil Hotel took place from 8th June to 9th June 2019 in Cracow and was a Concours d’Elegance for cars manufactured by 1955. The cars were brought by historic car collectors and club members from Germany, Austria, France, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Latvia and Poland to compete for the Best of Show award. Due to a special nature of the event and the venue of exhibition the number of cars was limited to 30 pieces.
A professional jury chaired by FIVA Steward Marek Gacek, unique, mainly pre-war vehicles, a large public, favorable weather – all in the entourage of the most prestigious places in Cracow - Retromobil Gala Kraków will long remain in the memory of participants and the public: Krakow residents and tourists.
„Visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites“
The event was a kind of historic journey under motto: „Visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites“. The owners of cars visited royal apartments at the Wawel Royal Castle in Cracow and the Salt Mine in Wieliczka and took part at Gala Dinner in an underground salt chamber in the Salt Mine.
The setting for cars presentation chosen by the Organizer Automobil Hotel couldn’t be better, since there were the most prestigious locations in Poland and listed since 1978 as UNESCO World Heritage Sites:
- Outer courtyard of Wawel Royal Castle in Cracow
- Main Market Square in Cracow
- Wieliczka Salt Mine (VIP parking)
The award ceremony was held on the outer courtyard of Wawel Royal Castle to celebrate award recipients. The ceremony was accompanied by Cracovia Danza Court Ballet which presented excellence in dance performance, original choreography and created a festive atmosphere.
Concours d’Elegance
The quality of the cars on the show field included among others: Ford T (1913), Renault AX (1913), Buick Master Six (1928), Horch 780 (1932), Packard Standard 8 (1935), Packard Twelve (1936) , Rolls Royce 20/25 (1934), Hispano Suiza H6 »Boulogne« Sport (1926), Hispano Suiza K6 Berline (1936), Studebaker Standard Six Touring (1925), Oakland 35 Touring (1917), Willys Knight (1920), De Dion Bouton (1925), Tatra 54 (1931),… The end of the competition part was announced at noon by a bell from the Wawel cathedral - over half a thousand votes were cast and the audience was engaged until the last second.
The cars were judged by a Jury under the chairmanship of FIVA Steward and the awards went to:
